• It's Official: Motorola Droid Getting Froyo (2.2) Next Week

We just heard from our source at VZW confirming that the original Motorola Droid will be getting Android 2.2 FRG01B (Froyo) beginning August 3rd and will be a staggard rollout. So, rejoice...Moto Droid is not abandoned and you are going to enjoy the new features and speed. Please be aware that if you accept the OTA, you WILL LOSE root...so if you want to keep root, wait for developers to hack into the OTA. Enjoy and make sure to share your excitement with us.

      Yikes,

Just looked at the support site and Motorola says it is "Mandatory" and will pop up every 30 minutes until I accept the OTA. Mandatory System Update: DROID by Motorola

Anyone know how to defeat this? Or do we all just keep saying "NO!" every 30 minutes ubntil we just give in????

Install a Froyo ROM. That should probably get rid of it.

YOu have to consider if OTA is enabled first off. Alot of ROMs disable it

That makes me happy for my Fiance who has my "hand-me-downed" rooted Motorola Droid since I bought the X. Even though its already running a leaked version of Froyo 2.2 that I just happened to receive from this AMAZING site. Did I overdo the brown nosing? lol

My question is whether our rooted Droids currently have what Motorola's 2.2 version calls: "security enhancements"? So is this something anyone really knows the answer to?
