Default Droid 2.0.1 SBF - How to go back to 2.0.1 from 2.1

Motorola Droid 2.0.1 sbf file released!!!

These directions come from ikithme @ alldroid. The .sbf file is used to flash a bricked droid. It will return you to a pre-rooted state.

THIS COMPLETELY WIPES YOUR PHONE AND REFLASHES IT! YOU WILL NEED TO REACTIVATE YOUR PHONE WHEN THIS FINISHES!

    Requirements
    A. http://www.mediafire.com/?2nojyrkfznj (.sbf file)

    Alt download link HERE

    B. http://www.mediafire.com/?c2tibonomyn (RSDLite 4.6)
    C.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BPPIP5FG ... _4.2.0.zip (32-bit Motorola USB Drivers)
    or
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BMTSJZI5 ... _4.2.0.zip (64-bit Motorola USB Drivers)

    Instructions:
    1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
    2. Install RSDLite 4.6 AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
    3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD.
    4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
    5. Click the ... next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
    6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
    7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock 2.0.1 no root.
    8. Done

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ROOT YOUR DROID NOW TO LOAD CUSTOM ROMS, PLEASE VISIT:

    Good luck!!!

the .sbf file is the source file necessary to install software on a phone. It is used by motorola and verizon to flash a phone to factory state.

I've downloaded the files necessary for this, and have them stored on my Droid's memory card as well as on my PC. I figure in an emergency, I can always locate a microSD reader and install the flasher on any nearby PC (at work, for instance) and simply reflash the device on the road. I have been known to tinker with ROMs during downtime at work.

This is one tool, however, that i'm only going to use if absolutely necessary. Don't know enough about it to try it just to see if it works, i'll take others' word for it.

p3droid, is this the "mystery tool" that i've heard of VZW techs using to fix truly bricked Droids?

I'm not sure about what the tool itself is but, out of curiousity today I did reflash my phone to a virgin state.

From start to finish this took me 15 minutes.

Be warned you will need to reactivate when finished and be sure you have created a nandroid backup if you plan to reroot at a later date in time.

I then promptly rooted and reinstalled droidmod 2.0.5.

Cool. Good to know it works. I might do this when 2.1 goes official, just so I can see the OTA update in action. I can then reflash this once again, and reroot. Should be handy to have this around in case I decide to have that kind of fun *LOL*

So, even a FULL install from the SBF is faster on a Droid than an OS update on a BB device? *LOL*

Dave, This would have been quicker if I had installed the necessary software already. So yes the speed is just amazing.
I plan on taking mine back before installing the official update as well.

So I got bored and made a nandroid backup, and am in the progress of doing this just for fun. The bootloader text is hilarious, looks like an old CGA monitor. Of course RSD Lite itself looks like a Windows 3.1 app.

EDIT: Wow, that WAS quick. This seems like THE way to unroot your device.

    Dave,

It is really quick and coming form a blackberry (which was a half hour process at best) this is lightning quick. I have been playing around and I have new boot up images in the sbf files.

*LOL* I should try that. Instead of a Moto logo, I could have an Apple with a slash through it.... *LOL*

EDIT: Okay, if all goes well; next time my phone reboots it will display the logo of famous 1990s rap group Wu-Tang Clan

    EDIT2: It Worked!!!! Wu-Droid lives!
