3] This update and/or SBF is NOT PRE-ROOTED

ROOT
Backup root using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper
>The apk and directions can be found with a quick search using google.
>Use this app before you flash to backup your SU.
>Use this app after you flash to restore root.

Droid3 & Droid4 & Razor root methods will FAIL!! There may be others ways (I have not tested any) to obtain root if Rootkeeper fails.

*There is no reports of successful rooting of this update once applied*

DIRECTIONS
  • YOU MUST BE ON GINGERBREAD VERSION 4.5.605 (2.3.3) and have not altered your device as listed above (besides root and installing OTA rootkeeper).
  • Download & Place both files (found at the bottom of the write up) on the root of your sdcard (if you do not know what this means then do not proceed!!)
  • Reboot Your device.
  • Let the device bootup as normal. wait about 5 minutes, you will be prompt that and update has been found on your sdcard.
  • if step#4 does not occur then manually flash this in STOCK RECOVERY ONLY!!! But step #4 is HIGHLY ADVISED, so if you can just wait longer.
  • if you must flash now, and you do not have the patience to wait the proceed to stock recover and flash (no wipes needed).
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE READ THIS WHOLE WRITE-UP BEFORE PROCEEDING!!!! THERE IS NOT RETURN TO A PREVIOUS VERSION AFTER YOU GO FOWARD!!!

Thanks for this! I'm really sad that I don't think many developers will be updating their awesome tweaks to work with the new build it seems. It is kind of crazy to see developers leave a phone before Motorola abandons it. I hope I'm wrong. I'm going to hold off because I think I may need SBF support if I ever hope to see 2nd init partial ICS goodness working. I'm hoping the cyanogen team can implement the new fixes in a way to avoid this stock update.

PS. I am really sorry to hear about what happened to your DX cdexsw. I hope the DX2 will be good to you.

I second that thanks. Hopefully this will help in shoving it back into Moto's face yet again.

Updating multiple Bionics with p3droid pathsaver recently gave me a similar Bootloader error. Flashing the boot.img in fastboot as noted in post 3 by realbbb HERE cleared those each time and allowed me to continue with the pathsaver process.

Just recently got my DroidX working again (broken vol- button, had to find it and pop it open) so I don't know if there is a way to pull the equivalent "boot.img" file(s) for X sbf's. I do know the Bionic uses fxz vice sbf but I thought this may give someone with more knowledge a starting point.

Yeah, I passed on the auto update for now. if I can get root, and add crt close and the circle battery mods, I'll install it. Otherwise, I'll wait to see what others say about it.

I guess our phones are really old and almost abandoned developement wise now. 8( I'm still debating if I'll update or not. Our phones have been running the best they ever were, and I'd hate to muck that up.
