No matter what I do, I can't back out of Froyo. I've formatted data/cache several times, and tried to restore my old ROM (Bugless Beast 1.1). It just ends in a boot loop.

Any ideas?

So in the event that the OTA does hit the droid, what do rooted users have to do to get it? If I remember correctly, something in the rooting process blocks this type of update.

Yes, I'm also having this problem. It seems any app that has a system service will not restore. It just crashes the phone.. Trouble is it's doing this for simple widgets for me, too (Android Agenda Widget, for example).

Normal apps restore fine, but anything with a system service doesn't..

HUGE problem here for me - I CANNOT use Froyo, no matter what I do. Problem? I'm currently on a Cyanogenmod 5.7 based ROM and using Apps2SD - since Froyo seems to use some sort of mucked up Apps2SD implementation; my phone rapidy fills up it's memory; and keeps throwing errors. I have just missed 3 texts which were rejected because my phone is filling up faster than I can delete things. And no matter what I do; I can't keep my apps from automatically coming back. I end up in a sort of "infinite loop" which makes the OS completely unusable. I've never seen any other build do this; and it's completely perplexing me because I want to play with Froyo. No matter how I have my settings configured; I cannot stop these automatic downloads, they happen the second I sign into Google.

Anyone have any ideas?

HELP!!!!!

I am no expert at this but maybe it would work if you try changing to another rom besides the Cyanogenmod 5.7 based rom. I was formally using the Dominator 3.0 rom and it changed over without much problem. The only problem I ran into was the initial launch stayed on the bootanimation for a good 10-15 min. Hope this works for you since you helped me in the past with the stunning rom.

Scrap SPRecovery its junk and once you get on 2.2 the SPRecovery will no longer work. Just get the free version of Rom Manager and use Clockworkmod Recovery. This is only from the experience I got from the 2.2 it may very but I think its solid.

Well this made my day. Successfully running Froyo on my DROID and using the 1100 kernel. Quadrant gives me 1418 putting in me top spot beating out Nexus One 2.2

Only thing is I don't think app2sd is working

:EDIT: Second run with Quandrant gave me 1565

What I've been doing is redownloading those apps from the market, and then restoring their data with titanium backup
