This is exactly what gets displayed:
INSTALL FROM SDCARD......
FINDING UPDATE PACKAGE.....
VERIFYING UPDATE PACKAGE....
E: FAILED TO OPEN/SDCARD/UPDATE.ZIP (NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY)
E: SIGNATURE VERIFICATION FAILED
INSTALLATION ABORTED

So can anyone tell me I'm doing wrong or what I've done wrong. I downloaded 2,2, moved from my PC to my SDCard (not into a file). I also have attempted the OTA with exactly the same results and same failures??????
Help me please :-)

Sort of sounds like you may not be rooted. That wouldn't explain the ota problem, but failed verification will happen if your not rooted and try to install a rom.

Are you currently rooted? Are you trying to root? Or just update to 2.2 without root?

I'm rooted (running FRG22) and tryed to use the OTA (downloaded) version just for kicks and it failed verification and aborted install.
So...I unrooted back to 2.0.1, updated to factory 2.1 update1 and then did the OTA (downloaded) version of 2.2 and installed fine.
Wanted ROOT...Went back to 2.0.1, re-rooted and installed FRG22 (for rooted devices) ((Thank-you P3!!!)).
If your not rooted and are trying to install FRG22 as an OTA (downloaded) version...INSTALLATION ABORTED is all you will ever see due to the magic of P3 (Thanks P3!!!).
And if your not rooted and want to install the rooted version provided by P3, you will have to root first, look here... http://www.mydroidwo...ked-frf84b.html
If not rooted and only want to install FRG01B (OEM FroYo 2.2) OTA (downloaded) and don't want to root then look here... http://www.mydroidwo...update-zip.html

Double check that the file is named update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and that it is on root of SD card. ;)

is this working for xt701 because we don't have a 2.2 update for our phone !!!

i managed to install a 2.2 rom from a Korean (chinese) official rom but i want more! on a korean (chinese) site they have miui 2.3.5 and i guess is from android 2.3! that chinese or korean is hard to understand!!!
