Thank you! One last question: I am currently tethering internet to this laptop from my Droid. Do you think there will be any issues? Do I need to be online for this to work? I have downloaded everything I think I need (your Rootkit after reuploaded, Froyo rom, Droid Froyo update, and even the original 2.0.1 Droid rom incase something horrible happens. And I've saved all the webpages when the information I'm going to need to complete it).

Sounds like you should be good. When you say Droid Froyo update I assume you mean a patch to the ROM you're installing. If that's the case, then you're in great shape.

Yeah, I really meant the leaked Verizon Froyo update. =]

Everything seems to be working just fine now. Only thing I am trying to do now is figure out how to install a bunch of APK's that I have sitting in a download folder on my computer to the Droid =(

I'm having trouble and I'm hoping its just something simple. Steps 1, 2, and 3 seemed to go fine. I didn't get any error messages. But when I try step 4, it just says "error: device not found". I do have it set to USB debugging mode and its showing that it is enabled on the phone. To get around that I manually copied update.zip to the SD card, rebooted into recovery mode and applied the update, that went fine, but then on step 5 it gave the "error: device not found" again. So I'm guessing ADB Mode is not working or something like that? How can I check?

Any advice on where I went wrong would be appreciated. Thank you.

Assuming you have the latest version of DRK (v0.8.1), try rebooting your computer and your phone first, then see what happens.

Hey man, I've got a few questions/requests:

What version of Windows are you using?

Do you know how to get to Device Manager? If so, please go there and look for "Android Composite ADB Interface" (when your phone is plugged in). If you installed drivers using my kit then there will probably be two of those, one with a yellow exclamation sign and another wihout it. Right click on the one without the exclamation and click Properties. Then click the Details tab. Then click the drop-down menu and select Hardware IDs. Please tell me what you see there. Should say USB\VID_(blah blahblah).

That will be very helpful for troubleshooting this issue. Also, once you've given me that info, please right-click the Android Compisite interface in Device Manager, select "Uninstall". Also select to delete the driver files.

Then click the Action menu and select "Scan for hardware changes". It should detect your phone. Then right-click the Motorola A855 (under Other Devices), click Update Driver software, then browse to the C:\droidrootkit\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver\ folder and select the driver. See if that works for you.

DRK has been updated to version v0.8.2. This fixes a dumb bug causing problems creating shortcuts on XP.

Hey, first off, your DRK is freaking amazing, I finally got around to rooting and this simply made it so easy. But one question, I was on step 5 and it seemed like it was skipping a prompt page. It would go to the first and second prompts, "you will now be guided through the steps...press any key..." and then it would flash a page really quick and go to "Your phone should now be rebooted into recovery mode...use the keypad...reboot your phone" and that would be it. Am I missing something, it doesnt seem like a custom recovery image was created. Thanks for all of this help.

That flash is when the files r copied to the sdcard. The files r small so it seems to just blink

Another quick question, when I am trying to Update Baseband, I dont think anything was copied to the sdcard. Does the DRK reboot my phone into recovery mode for me, because I am rebooting it myself and there isn't an option for install zip from sdcard. Is this just my computer not seeing my sdcard, cause when I enable debug, should the usb icon disappear from my task bar on my computer?

Let me know if you need anymore info.
Thanks again for all the help.

Are you mounting the SD card on your computer when running the DRK? If so, don't do that! The baseband file should be copied to your phone and it should reboot into recovery automatically.

Hi My Droid World,
I tried to root my phone. I had done all the steps that led to me closing the FlashKit program. I turned on my phone and now it's completely stock brand new. Almost as if I had un-rooted it...My contacts also seem to be gone...for good. I hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Unless they are synced with google or exchange or you backed them up somehow before hand then yes they are gone.
