Now that Pandora's box is open, why not BRICK cars as well if you put a non-GM (or ford or Toyota etc.) part on your car.
I think every component on the car including tires should have a device embedded to alert the main CPU a non-authorized part has been introduced and shut down the CPU to disallow starting until said component is replaced by a factory authorized mechanic.
BS, The new Android MOTO will go the way of the dodo bird and MotoBlur and RAZR.
I expect after a few phones get bricked, not from tampering but from errors caused my market programs there will be a class action lawsuit, but unfortunately with the high courts being owned by the highest bidder, it is likely the course of action will fail.
But a full on Boycott will make a nice size dent in Motorola and Big Red bank account's. Better yet to GNU/GPL folks should sue since both Motorola and Verizon are making a lot of money off of the past hard work from the Open Source folks.
I ordered the phone and canceled out of conscience, the lady at Verizon indicated we had no business adding anything to their phone, I had to remind her who (would have) owned the hardware and I escalated my complaint to the Executive customer support group.:pissed
Without owning the phone I really do not have a reason to Complain, but the very Idea a company can destroy personal property just chafes my butt raw.:ef:
But I am looking for another Cell phone Carrier, I travel all over the US, seems AT&T and Verizon are the only games in town... Who would you recommend
