If you are rooted this update will unroot your Droid

Its out and if you want to manually update your Droid to the Official Froyo you can do it by following the download link to get your copy.

To Manually update follow the instructions below:
Download the file and place on the root of your sdard (you can do this by mounting your sdcard and moving the file from your pc to your sdcard or you can download right from the phone to your download folder and move the file to the root of your sdcard by using a program called astro which is available in the market)


1. Power off your device - then while holding the “X” on the physical keyboard, hold the power button to turn on the phone. Once it powers up you can let go of the power button, but do not let go of X.

2. After a few seconds, an Exclamation Mark icon will appear. Let go of the "X". To get to Recovery Mode from the exclamation mark icon, hold the volume up button and then press the camera button.

3. Now using the directional pad, scroll down to “apply sdcard:update.zip” and push the gold, center button to select it.

The update process will begin immediately and should take no longer than a minute or two. It will let you know when the process is complete.

Just so you know you may see this error, dont worry the device will ignore it and proceed with the update:

E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command

Once the update is complete use the directional pad to navigate to "Reboot Now". The device will reboot and with this update it may take a little longer to get to the home screen.

Congratulations you are now on the Official Froyo Update.

NICE!

I am updated, downloaded the file direct from Google.

Where is Flash? It doesn't seem to be available on the marketplace and when I go to m.flash.com and click to download Flash Player 10.1 it says the requested item could not be found. :\

Also, it looks like tethering IS enabled

Just clicked on link again, and file is now there. Is this file the actual update being distributed by verizon?

Yes this is the actual Froyo update. No the flash player is not official.

will this unroot my phone? I'm interested in checking it out to see how stacks up against the awesome rom's our guys and gals have built, but not if it's going to screw me on swapping back

Yes this update will unroot your device. You will not see a difference between the official update to the one we released a while back. They are both FRG01B

So does anyone know if the "Wired Tether" works with this? The FRG01B from a week or two ago worked but when I opened up IE it brought me to some Verizon page to pay for tethering packages. Luckily I was rooted and able to use "wired tether for root users" but if this update takes my root away, I'll lose that too. Anyone have ideas?

What if you have sprecovery installed. When holding x you boot into that. Can this be installed through sprecovery.

i believe i read somewhere this is for non rooted moto droids only. R u 2.1 update 1 with sp recovery on ur phone?

I am running froyo 2.2 rooted. I have no reason to install but was going to just check out how it runs stock. So I would have to get my phone back to stock 2.1 update I assume?

getting to 2.0.1 unrooted is easy but getting 2.1 update 1 ??? good question. be intrested to know if this will go onto 2.0.1 without issues. when u look at the size of the build compared to the rooted 2.2 ROM must need something from 2.1 update 1 to install properly???

Where is the thread to get back to 2.0.1 unrooted. Then can just install update to 2.1 update1.

Doesn't work. I originally did the update to Froyo for Non-rooted users version a while back. Could that be the problem?

For those of you that stayed rooted while the Froyo OTA update was discovered, you can now have it with full root access. Yep, Pete (Mr. Bugless Beast) has already put together the FRG01B build, slipped in superuser and has it ready to rock on your Droid. What’s even better, is the guy is in the middle of a camping trip and managed to hack while roasting some mallows. Dedication.

*THIS IS FOR ROOTED USERS ONLY.

Instructions…
