Can we just apply this as an update and avoid wiping data/cache?

If you are already on 2.2 i would say yes. Never hurts to wipe and start fresh but its entirely up to you.

It is more stable and snappier in the GUI and auto rotation is much quicker than FRG01b. Beyond that, which is plenty in my opinion, there isn't much significantly different.

Quadrant benchmarks are about the same for me with 1720 being the highest I got so far with my 1280Mhz kernel.

It's well worth the trouble to upgrade and a wipe is not necessary going from any prior 2.2 build, though some have reported having to do so.

I'm running FRG01B 2.2...I'll go ahead and try to update without wiping. I just finished backing up and now I'm dl'ing the update.

We'll see what happens!

Should be a nice treat for you I was messing with my droid last night flashing ROMS and such. Should be sweet to see what the developers make with this release.

Wow...installed w/o a hitch! I didn't wipe; only wiped cache partition.

This seems to be quite fast and EXTREMELY smoother and responsive with the stock oc kernel! I think it is faster than the official OTA and the newest ROm's out there!

I didn't do any type of wipe whatsoever from FRG01B.zip. I had 0 problems updating and installing the latest kernels on your site, p3.

The only minor issue I have run into is that I needed to re-download the host files for adfree so I didn't have any ads in my apps.

I used Clockword Mod to do everything.

So just for general use and install, we should use the non-deodexed version, correct?
