my Linpack went from 7.6 MFLOPS on 2.1 to 12.725 MFLOPS on 2.2 Wow.
My Quadrant went from about 1200 to 1413,

My x has never been rooted and the update worked perfectly. However, I can't find the built in wifi tether that is talked about. Any ideas where it is hidden?

I see that all of the links are down thanks to Moto's threat letter, but if the file were still up how large is it? An update.zip file that I have is 67.5 MB large, and I want to confirm that that was the size of this leak when it was still available here. thanks

On my phone, the properties of update.zip have it at 70.8 mb, but 67.5 sounds about right...

Built in wifi is a paid service with VZW. Since you're rooted, you want to download the tether from the marketplace. It's called Wifi Tether for Rooted Users.

I am not rooted. All of the reviews say that this leaked update has the stock built in 2.2 usb and wifi tethering still in it.

Sorry mis-read; thought you said you were rooted. I haven't read anything about non-rooted free tether. That would certainly be taking a chunk of change out of VZW's pocket. Google already did that with a superior Google Maps/Navigation instead of crappy $10/mo VZ Navigator!

2.2 on other carriers has built in wifi tether, but unfortunately for verizon that isn't the case (even in the leak). the wifi tether on the X still directs your connected device to Verizon's paid service

It is included, but as mentioned above, you will need to add the service to your account for tethering.


Here is the work around though....

Make sure your rooted and install wifi tether from google and your good to go.

Problem is they said the never rooted their phone. bummer for them.

do you have a link for the "threat" letter? We are doing them a favor by "Beta Testing" their own "leaked" release. is the letter just something to cover their ass?

Not sure if this Android 2.2 is worth having since it appears they have now disabled tethering via bluetooth. I can still create and tether over bluetooth and you can even ping the phone. However, the phone is no longer letting you get out onto the Verizon network.

FYI it is posted here at MDW on the home page. about the 4th thing down on the page as a few things have been posted since it was put up.
