TRANQUILITY

Posted ImagePosted Image

This is a new Rom that RETURNS the DroidX to a stock view. Much of the blur has been removed. I have kept things that I enjoy. This is my initial release candidate and as with these things I do not promise you the world. But you can leave any comments here in this thread.

Facts:

There are a few apps that were built from source, others were pulled from FRG22D, and still others are blur but have been edited in some way to make them less intrusive.

It comes with 2 Launchers, adw and the 2.2 launcher (3d Version) the 2.2 launcher does not have a functioning phone button.

changelog:

Rom has been deodexed, zipaligned, optimized, and DeBlurred (if thats a word)

2.2 stock: email, messaging, gallery, car home, navigation, news app, clock, calendar
Blur: kept phone, contacts, camera

________________________________________

Version 1.5rc: Update.

Original Launcher 2 fixed (phone button and orientation sensor)
Developement app fixed (Terminal now included and fixed)
Calculater from source, (Just because I like source, the other worked fine)
Calendar updated (now it syncs with google calendars)

Install instructions:

This is a new style of install for me and the Droid community in general. The update.zip format will only remove those files necessary to install itself, if your phone is odexed, it will deodex it for you and install. It has a very small footprint because it is only installing what is necessary.

1) DO NOT WIPE YOU PHONE, DO NOT FORMAT THE SYSTEM.

2) in your app drawer have bootstrap recovery restart your phone in recovery.

3) Follow these steps exactly:
i. go to mount and storage
ii. select mount system (it should say unmount /system if done correctly)
iii. press the power button
iv. select install zip from sdcard
v. select choose zip from sdcard
vi. navigate to Tranquility.zip and press the camera button
vii. restart phone

Awesome, saw your tweets tonight. Downloading now, will report my observations.

I have noticed random reboots since I downloaded and installed it last night 9/5.Once while the phone was idle and unlocking. Other time I can't remember. Also it seems like the superuser permissions are not being remembered, even with the remember me option checked.

Thanks!!!

BTW, am I going to run into any problems if I'm already running Birdman's FlyX ROM and just load this on top?

I'm having some issues syncing my calendar, not sure if it's on Google's end or this ROM.

I went into accounts and unchecked sync calendar and rechecked it an it says something along the lines of 'sync is down, try later'

Other than that, everything seems to be in working order.

Existing themes for deodexed 2.2 should still work, right?

WOW!!!!!!!!!! Life without blur is GOOD!!!! I am going to have to get used to the different launcher, home screen, etc. but I think I can handle that. This is gonna be interesting to see how it effects battery life, etc.

Thanks for the great work, but I've had a couple of issues after loading this ROM, and maybe this will help someone else:
1. I lost root after the update, and had to re-root it using this tutorial (and yes, it applies to the Droid X):

2. The dialer and contacts apps are still the Moto ones, not Vanilla FroYo. Is there a way to get that taken care of?

It was noted on the OP that the phone (dialer) (which also contains contact's) are the stock versions. I'm sure there was a reason for leaving this in place though.

I had Koush's 2.2 from ROM Manager, which was already rooted. I also removed a crapload of apps (way more than even Birdman's FlyX), and had NexTheme installed, but that caused absolutely no problems. SuperUser.apk was still in my app drawer after this update, but any app that required root wouldn't work until I re-rooted.

Booting up as we speak... Left Fly X on there. Looking forward to a life without MotoBlur. Crossing my fingers I'm not going to be disappointed... Or Bricked. Lol

love this rom...very quick on top of flyX, only thing that "annoys" me is that it still says flyX Final in my about phone details lol and that I have the flyx boot animation still...BUT its a RC so im not complaining...rom seems so smooth.

EDIT: also the backup assistant in the settings menu doesn't work (assuming backup assistant is gone) as well as the account button...there are no blur account like the imap box and all of that so why is that in there?

I installed right over birdman's rom. I noticed that the flyx boot animation is still there. Quadrant dropped slightly, and linpack is roughly the same. Hard to tell if there are any other differences yet. Dev tools in the drawer although clicking on most causes FC. Definitely seems snappier, kind of early to make any judgements though.
