So awhile back I found a Mario boot animation and thought it looked pretty snazzy on my phone. In light of that I made one of my own for all those android users out there that remember the good ole days of NES and ExciteBike.

Hope somebody out there likes it :)

Now.. while I love the classics I dont think I'll be using it as a startup screen. But the effort is appreciated :)

Put a DROID on the sucker or have him chase it and we'll be on the same page :)

I'm sorry you didn't like it, I'll kick around some ideas with adding a droid and see what I come up with.

I'm 46 and I barely remember excite bike. Is that the one if you accelerate for too long you tip over backwards?

Nice job! This takes me back to the days when life was fun, and I wasn't having to be responsible for EVERYTHING!

tegls,

I'm assuming you're Rooted and have busybox installed, if so then you can use something like Root Explorer to copy the original file out of system/media and drop the new one in the same directory. If you have a terminal emulator then here are the commands to get it done (drop the new bootanimation on your SD card before running the commands).

<-- Backup Original -->
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 dev/block/mtdblock3 system
cd /system/media
busybox cp bootanimation.zip /sdcard/bootanimation.bak

<-- Apply new animation -->
cd /sdcard
busybox cp bootanimation.zip /system/media

To remove the custom animation and drop the original back in (should be named bootanimation.bak on your sdcard) run these commands in terminal
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 dev/block/mtdblock3 system
cd /system/media
rm bootanimation.zip
cd /sdcard
mv bootanimation.bak /system/media/bootanimation.zip

Tried 3 times, was never able to get it to work.....keeps getting stuck on "installing update".....cool idea though!

Update: I was able to by replacing the stock boot animation zip in the system/media folder. Looks cool!!!
