[p3droid]

Team Black Hat brings you R2D2 for the Motorola Droid2, this is available only for rooted users right now. To get R2D2 on your D2 jump into to forum and follow the downloading and install directions.

IMPORTANT:

Step 1:
This is a leaked ROM in the update.zip format. This is not a Custom ROM or a port. This will upgrade only your system.

Step 2
You will now install R2D2 for the Droid2

1) Restart phone via Koush bootstrap into Recovery Mode
2) Wipe Data
3) Wipe Cache
4) Select Mounts and Storage
5) Select Format System (ONLY DO THIS IF IT FAILS TO INSTALL THE FIRST TIME)
6) Select Mount System
7) Back out by pressing Power button
8) Select Install zip from sdcard
9) Select choose zip from sdcard
10) find and select this zip file
11) First Boot may take up to 5 minutes

10) Go into Koush Bootstrap (if you have it) and re do the bootstrap. (must be rooted)

STOP: IF YOU LOOSE ROOT YOU CAN USE THIS METHOD AS FOUND ON XDA. It takes only 3 - 5 minutes to root your phone.

yesss on bootup the r2d2 makes sound now!!

edit2:

i get bootloops. i wiped both data and system and mounted system like they recommended. sbfing now back to stock and trying again. maybe i did something wrong. did anyone else successfully boot this?

I had the same problem. Make sure you do the instructions step by step. First time was my fault, I forgot to mount system. After I SBF and did the instructions step by step I booted up.

lots of cool wallpapers/lwp's to check out. on your contacts that have no picture, instead of showing the android logo it shows a picture of 3p0's head haha.

i cant seem to get my LED flashlight to work. anyone else have this?

Wiped data/cache and installed...all apps/settings coming back as expected. This looks very solid so far.

Swype won't swype - only works if I type - anyone else?

Getting the "configured for another device" error. Likely need to pull swype from the D2 release and install on this.

Unless someone else has another fix...

Tried removing the swype version installed w/this release and then installing the swype.apk from the D2 system dump, that version won't swype either...someone better figure this out, or I'm never gonna be able to use this release. :(

I'd like to compare swype versions between 2.3.15 and 2.4.0.

If you have 2.4.0 installed what version do you see in Applications>Manage>All Apps for Swype?

in the 2.3.15 leak the Swype version number is: 1.64.40.9380

Kernel is the same. Only thing modified is the /system partition.

Swype is working for me. I have never used and delete since I mostly use physical keyboard but I just installed and it is working fine for me in this build. I am not sure if this has anhthing to do with it but I changed the build.prop. I changed all r2d2 to droid2.

My battery manager is not working though. Tried to fix it but it only works when plugged in.

My wifi is more stable. In 2.3.1.5, the wifi did not reconnect to my home network lots of times but now it connects right away.

No problem...
It is whatever version r2d2 came with. I no longer have it installed to check. The first time I installed I goofed and did not mount system. So I did wipe after I had to SBF.

i just changed my build.prop to reflect that the device is droid2. i'm getting an error in the swype beta i installed saying failed to load englishUS.

EDIT:
i went back and pulled my build.prop from /system and swype.apk from /system/app and i loaded it onto the r2d2 rom
then i opened the swype.apk and installed it..then enabled it in keyboard settings. then it worked for me!

lemme know if this works for any of you! P.s. you need root explorer or adb to do this i believe.

Pulled from where - from your 2.2.20 or 2.3.15 setup?

So you mean you replaced the r2d2 build.prop w/your build.prop from 2.2.20 or 2.3.15?

Sorry about the lack of explanation, was in a rush.
I took everything it from 2.3.15

Go to app manager..all...find swype and clear data/uninstall
Replaced my r2d2 build.prop w 2.3.15s build.prop
Reboot
Drop swype.apk into /system/app
Click on swype.apk in /system/app using root explorer and use package manager to install
Go to keyboard settings and check swype
Select swype as input method
Start swyping. Worked for me lemme know how it works for u folks.

I wonder if the device id error is because of the build prop. I replaced all the r2d2 references with droid2 and I was able to get swype to run without a problem.

Are you having a problem with battery manager when it is not plugged in?
