Sorry but here's the dumb question? What's different and what can I do with it?
Should I install this on my stock DX?

If your phone boots up into Android, follow Method 1 in the first post. Then perform a factory reset after flashing the SBF, and your phone will be 100% stock.

So in the tbh app, we would just flash the 2.3.340 SBF zip as an update.zip in either stock recovery or in cwm?

Thanks a lot, this is very helpful.

This may be a dumb question, but is there any particular reason you recommend RSD Lite 4.8 rather than 4.9?

Oh, and - does it matter what version of the Motorola USB driver I have? Right now I have 4.7.1 but I see that 4.9.0 is available from the Motorola Software and Drivers website.

Thanks again!

Can the .zip files be flashed in stock recovery?

No. SBF files are not flashable using Clockwork. They are only usable with RSD Lite.
