What a nice present to wake up to! Any chance of sharing how you were able to gain root access? Thanks for everything! Long live TBH

I'm really excited about this!

Question:

I have a rooted 2.3.20 running LauncherPro Plus. Will I need to unroot and/or reset to the sbf before attempting the upgrade?

Thanks for this!!

Will it work for a rooted R2D2 on stock 2.4.5? If not, then will it work if I flash 2.3.20? Post #145 in the Triple Threat thread says that it's OK to do so (and that 2.3.20 is newer than 2.4.5).

I would imagine it is just running the root after flashing gingerbread but before closing it up so it can install before gb is fully finished. All in one step. Just a guess but seems legit lol

Does anyone know if this build resolves the swype and headset volume issues, or is this strictly just root?

Came from liberty on a droid 2. Backed up in bootstrapper and liberty then flashed the update. Took about 5-10 minutes then it booted to a new logo and animation I let it run for a minute or two and then it started boot looping so I took out the battery. Now it's just still bootlooping.

Any advice?

I would love to do that, but I cant because I cant get back into clockwork.

tried to do the rsd steps but it looks like you have to be running to start rsd :) Ok now I'm up for ideas.

ok, i turned off the phone, then held X and booted. The little android guy came up. So it hit volume up and down at the same time and a blue menu came up. It let me clear my cache but that didnt fix it so now im wiping/formatting... lets hope this lets me boot.

Sick it worked! Will update in a few to make sure im all good to go. Goodluck guys I hope my troubles helped.

Admit to being new to RSD . It sees my device but I cannot find an sbf file. Downloaded the one in the op and it is .zip. Unzipped but cannot find an sbf file type. Would one of you nice folks point me in the right direction?

Thanks

ok so maybe I'm just being noobish here but how do we bootstrap after flashing the 2.3.20 sbf on the Droid 2? is the first sbf we flash already rooted? I'm flashing it right now, just trying to figure out what I'm doing next... thanks

Appreciate the great work ... was trying it, had to RSD back to 2.3.20 - but now boot-looping. And I can't seem to get into recovery (X+Power, wait for "!" and then VolUp+VolDn not doing it).

Any help, or am I bricked?

trejrco... here is what i did.
I turned the phone off, unplugged all cables.

Remove battery, reinsert.

Open keyboard and hold the X.

Then while holding x turn the phone on and let go of the power button but keep holding the X

You should get a little green android. Now let go of everything.

Now push the volume up and down at the same time. A blue menu should come up allowing you to clear cache and wipe/restore. If not did you have clockwork installed?

The questions I have is, do I have to reinstall clockwork bootstrapper now that im formatted/updated?

Micro23 - I've been in recovery before, yesterday in fact :). But it isn't working now ... not a good sign!
(I get the "!" and Little Green Andy, by hitting the power buttons (at the same time) does nothing ... I still see !Andy.)

Hoping maybe there is another method of getting into recovery, that might work?

*** Wait - I hit some random keys (or maybe it was a timing thing), and eventually got into recovery ... get an error that says "/cache/recovery/command" ... wiping now. Let's see what happens!
*** OK, Phone booted properly, got into the phone activations, etc. screens. Now rebooting to apply the rooted.zip ... one step closer!

*** Oh, wait - I need to re-root the phone - right? Can't rename this to update.zip as it fails validation. So, now off to root Froyo ... again :).
*** ReRooted ... continuing ...
*** Unlocked bootloader, loaded CWrecovery ... rebooted into CWrecovery ... applying .zip now (and crossing fingers!)

Done & done!
*** After the above "fun", applied the zip and did a bunch of app restores, and I am up and running! This took a lot longer than anticipated!
