Well this is what we all were waiting for, Gingerbread, Droid2 and Root and Deodexoed

Deodexing was done by xUltimate, give him a big thanks to Xeudoxus and a follow on twitter.

Follow these directions carefully.


YOU CAN ONLY USE THIS FILE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UPGRADED TO GINGERBREAD


1. Download the following file and place on the root of your sdcard.

2. Put phone into bootstrap recovery

3. Install the file you downloaded above

4. Sit back and watch (Your phone will bootloop for approx 2 mins, if any longer than that, pull battery and restart your phone.

You should now have gingerbread and it should be rooted.

SPECIAL NOTES:

5. You have to use D2 Bootstrap on Gingerbread, Get it here

6. If you're having Sync Issues After flash you need to Go back and do a Factory Reset in Stock Recovery. It helps if you do it multiple times. I usually do it 3 or 4 at a minimum.

7. IF YOU FOLLOW P3Droid ON TWITTER YOU ALREADY SAW THAT IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ROOT THEN YOU SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THE OTA.

It allows the ability to theme the phone amongst other things.

I just installed it on my D2 and glad to find out it does include the CRT animation

Thanks so much for all this work. I had some stumbles along the way but at no time did I feel that I was going to 'brick' my D2. The directions and help have been great!

I must admit though, I want more! I want my watermark'd theme or honeycomb or something else wonderful. I also want to know what CRT animation is???????

Having so much fun it must be illegal!

Crt animation is when you hit the lock button to turn off your screen it looks like an old crt shutting off. Its pretty neat and a welcome change to just turning off.

The first time I installed this it seemed to work fine, but gmail and google apps framework was force closing, so I decided to do a factory data reset. I could not get it to stop bootlooping after that, even after an SBF and installing the Pre-rooted gingerbread, then this again.

Tried multiple wipes of data/cache from stock recovery, removed battery for 5 mins, etc.

SBFing again now and I'll stick with the odexed version I guess.

Edit: I guess it could be because I have the R2D2 version, but I SBFed to 2.3.20 so I didn't think it should make a difference. I also did check the md5s on the .zip files, and they match.

So how I am understanding is I can install this zip OVER the prerooted release from the other day, and IF I have issues, I have to wipe data, correct?

I am not done testing my apps compatibility yet, so I don't want to back track.

I can't get this thing to boot - have no problem with the un-deodexed version - I've SBF'd three times, wiped, scrubbed, steamed, licked, begged - no love, just bootloop -

Hey quick question... I wiped everything off my phone davik and all the other stuff... anyway I seem to be stuck in bootloop. I have tried pulling the battery a few times and still nothing but bootloop. any idea's?

I'm in the same boat. Has anyone been successful in flashing this version yet? If so, did you have any problems that you had to work through?

And if its stuck in said boot loop how to I get out of the darn thing? lol Do I do the whole hold power and the "up button"?

in a boot loop 2nd time had to reflash to stock 2.3.20 sbf file with rsd lite, then skipped welcome screen used z4root to reroot the phone, installed Koush Bootstrap and Rom manager and reboot phone to clockwork, reflash to preroot 2.3.3 let it install. turn phone on. let it load. reboot back into clockword and flash to the deodexed rom

to get into bootloader and get your computer to read your phone hold power and hold up and down volume key into the bootloader splash screen pops out

To get back to stock:

1. Grab the SBF File
You must start the process with your phone running the official 2.3.20. If you have already upgraded to gingerbread grab this 2.3.20 sbf file .... Download

2. Grab RSDlite
You must use RSDLite to use the sbf file from step 1 .... RSDLite

3. Grab the Drivers Drivers ....Download now

4. Run RSDLite and sbf your phone back to 2.3.20

Also did you mean you have trouble using it as in confused or you cant get it to work and it wouldnt flash?

I tried using rsd lite and it had some error on it. I guess maybe i wasnt sure how to use RSDLite properly. I have it installed but I am afraid that if I do it wrong my phone will turn into a brick. I have the Sbf file and the program. Just not sure how to use it properly
