I only had luck when I did exactly as you did, but did a little more.

I did not zip align

Unpacked unsignedSettings.ak (not decompile)

Unpack Original Settings.apk

Copy androidManifest.xml from unsigned .apk to original

Zip it back up as an apk.

I had this issue for each apk that I changed the androidManifest.

Now after zipping it back up, if I was making any other edits, I start the project over as new.

Any time I manipulated android Manifest, I did by itself.

That's why I like using apk manager 4.8 instead of 4.9, you don't have to delete any xmls or pngs you edited, you just compile with the changes you made, and they are applied without you deleting this and that :D

both & keys are goofy unless there supposed to be that way lol I never use this keyboard also are there supposed to be blank keys.

The funky ampersand or what ever that stupid key is called :p indicates it wasn't compiled properly. Make sure you make mods in apk manager 4.9, 4.8 gives errors like that. There shouldn't be any blank keys.

Ok I have read this whole thread in hopes of successfully decompiling and recompileing the Settings.apk. So far I'm still having the same issue. Anytime I edit androidmanifest.xml my settings file will not work. Am I to understand I should use APKManager 4.8 do to this instead of 4.9? And where do I install the extra blur dependency files? Everyone says something different it feels like...
