DIRECTIONS FOR BOOTSTRAP

1. Make sure you have root by using gingerbreak or z4root (get these by looking on google)
)
2. Download the bootstrap for Droid X2 (look up SAFE BOOTSTRAP FOR DROID X2 in google and it should be the first link or the link that says safe bootstrap)

3. Install the boostra, give root access, and click on INSTALL RECOVERY. After you do MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR CHARGER PLUGGED IN!!! (make sure its not the usb cable to the pc). Click on the RECOVERY MODE (make sure you dont click on charge mode) and it will enter recovery!!!!

No there it's no known way to root gingerbread. SBF back to Froyo, root your device then install this update.

If I SBF back to froyo will I lose everything like my contacts and apps? (similar to a factory reset?)
Is it worth going back and rooting it? I've never rooted my phone before.

Mine aborted install error 7 something to do with motorola.nv some junk. I rebooted and it loaded and even booted and i noticed that the icons where different. So I rinsed and repeated same thing. So now I just Sbf. Because i think i have a botched install.

When you get "assert failed motorola.update_nv staus 7 installation aborted" you are done

anybody figure out how to overclock this rom yet?? loving it but more speed would make this thing crazy! P3droid you the man! and now just give me overclocking!! ;P

Would I be ok if I just unfroze all my stock bloat and went from there? I haven't removed any of the stock stuff (except the Need for Speed and Let's Golf, I think, but do those really even count?). I'd just like to keep my apps/data if possible.

Infinity The exact same thing happened to me...I did everything all over again from sbf and got the same message. I have been running it that way for 3 hours now with heavy use and it seems to be fine so far so I hope it is right but so far no issues

Yes it tricked me into thinking something went wrong even though the phone did indeed boot and work. But I'm coming from a D1 where there was never an install fail

Yes I have been running fine with it so far to.

Masters if i may ask how do you know that is the correct success message or point, in the install? Is it just because even though there was an error it has been working fine for you. Or you know something we don't?

Another thing that made me think It went wrong is the 3g, wifi, ect icons in the status bar change color and look a few mins after booting. Just an observation i made looking for something wonky.
