Yes, you read that right we have managed to convince our source to attempt to root their Bionic using the method outlined to root the D3. As you can see by the photo we have achieved permanent root access to the Bionic. If youre interestested in the knowing more you can jump into this thread and see how it was done. Thanks again to Dan Rosenburg for providing the method in which to accomplish this and thank you to our source for risking their device.

Wow that was quick ! Do we know if the bootloader is unlocked or is it the normal motorola locking of devices?

Can't wait to get one. Love my x but the bionic is going to get MODDED. I bet Motorola is going to love this news, I have got to learn how to develop for android.

I really love this phone just wish the bootloader was unlocked. Maybe 2nd int could work on it that would be good.

Followed the steps, worked flawlessly on my Bionic this morning.

What all did you "debloat?"
I'm rooted but hadn't done anything else yet as was unsure what was safe to remove.

I renamed by adding ".bak" to these apps:
AdService.apk
Blockbuster.apk
CityID.apk
FriendFeed.apk
gotomeeting.apk
GuidedTours.apk
IMPresence.apk
Kindle.apk
MyVerizon.apk
NewBayVault.apk
NewsWidget.apk
RichLocationVzW.apk
VCAST_Tones.apk
VCASTMusic.apk
VCASTVideo.apk
VSuiteApp.apk
Vvm.apk
vzw_vnav_DROIDBIONIC_rel_PROD_signed.apk
VZWIM.apk
WeatherWidget.apk

Please remember, this may not be considered "bloat" by everybody.
However, I have successfully renamed those apk so they don't work and have not had any ill effects.
I did NOT touch ANYTHING with the word "blur" in it. Until we have an SBF or a workable recovery...I would recommend not touching any of those.

I was able to successfully Root my Bionic with the Motorola One-Click method, however when I unrooted it with the same software and then turned around and tried to root it again, it won't do it, failing on the last step. I then decided to investigate by doing it manually with "adb shell" and found after echoing the "local.prop" validating it was written correctly and rebooting the droid, the "local.prop" re-wrote itself on its own. WTF! Did this happen to anyone else, and is it fixable. I can't believe Motorola could fix it between the few minutes between rooting it, unrooting and rooting it. I received no updates and the whole process was with in like 15 minutes. Any Suggestions?

Thanks!

I fixed it had to manually clean up some stuff off the phone with "adb shell", once I got it all back to stock, and ran the Motorola One-Click again, it worked like the first time. NOTE: The unroot automation doesn't clean up your phone completely. If Verizon looked at it, they would see that it was rooted. Be sure to clean it manually with "adb shell" if you plan to take it in for service. My only real reason for Rooting it is to pull off all that garbage apps "V-Cast" seriously why the F do we need that, that software stop being useful after the Motorola Razor. And Blockbuster, I got Netflix B1tch! Verizon we are not NASCAR so stop Branding us like we are, we pay you to use the phone, not advertise.

What did you use to root?

Did you use SD card from another phone? I'm using mine from my X and all my stuff is in sdcard-ext, so no apps can see the data/files there. Only the stock file manager can c that data. Fix anywhere?
