I would first like to thank all the folks over on

Please Login HERE or Register HERE to see this link!

who got this ball rolling and put the major leg work in. Also Cellzealot pointed me in the right direction and got me thinking of how to automate this whole process.

What this does.

No matter what rom/firmware you have this will take your device and put you back on the official update of 5.5.896 and you will have the option to update to the 5.9.901 update. This update will also root your device so all you have to do is double click on the runme.bat file.

Instructions:
1) Download this file ---->

Please Login HERE or Register HERE to see this link!

2) unpack and place all files in the same folder
3) make sure usb mode is Charge Only
4) attach device to computer with usb cable
5) double click the runme file

How this works:

First the Bionic has a locked bootloader that makes restoring and modifying the Bionic difficult. Due to this we have to perform some work arounds.

1) This script will first push the 5.5.893 and then the 5.9.901 updates to your sdcard (these files will be needed to complete the update)
2) You phone will reboot to bootloader and then the script will push the necessary 5.5.886 system/preinstall/webtop partitions to the device (this takes some time be patient)
3) The phone will reboot and the script will root the build (don't worry if Superuser fails to install. That means you already have it installed), push the necessary boot.img to the boot partition
4) The phone will reboot in recovery mode and you will need to install 5.5.893, if you want to try 5.9.901 install it immediately after 5.5.893.
5) Your phone will reboot and the script will again root your device. (don't worry if Superuser fails to install. That means you already have it installed)

You are all finished, congrats and thanks for trying this script.

****** CDT.bin error *****
if you were previously running 5.9.901 you may get a cdt.bin error. Do not panic do the following.

Download this cdt.bin and script to the same directory
Double click on 901fix.bat

Download File ---->

Nevermind. Thanks for bundling this into one neat package.

Merry Christmas and bad humbug to VZW and Moto for refusing to help.

Thanks,

RMD

Awesome thanks!
Got to wait until tomorrow as I foolishly l had my battery die while performing the "Get to 5.5.893 OTA from ANY LEAK" over at RootzWiki during the Fastboot 'run everything' script.
Maybe Verizon store can charge up my battery.

The OP says it will restore to 5.5.896 but I think he means 5.5.893 I looked at the files in the script and it is 893 probably just a typo. Thanks for all the hard work on this as it will help a lot people get back to the upgrade path. I am on 5.9.901 and am very impressed with this new update my bionic works like it was suppose to from the start.

the post says that it will give me the option to upgrade to .901, but it also says these files will be needed. Do we need to download the .901 files also, or are they included?

901 is included in the package. I think P3 means it won't automatically update you to 5.9.901. You'll have to do that manually if you want.

Phew, thought it was in a "sending Webtop, writing Webtop" loop. Just needed to go through 5 cycles of that.

Nice job P3, thanks for the present. Is there any interest in a Mac/Linux version of this? I think I've actually found a moto-fastboot for them that allows flashing of the webtop image (regular fastboot fails on large files). I'll start re-writing my MotoRooter scripts to include this, once I've recuperated from my extra-large birthday celebration yesterday - LOL.
